Gwinnett Superior Court

Gwinnett County Superior Court is the trial court that holds general jurisdiction. It hears civil, criminal and other cases. When a case is said to be civil, that implies that the case pertains to divorces, domestic violence, personal lawsuits, post-divorce child support and change of names. In criminal cases, it hears only the cases carrying felony charges. Apart from these, the cases related to real estate deeds also come to the Superior Gwinnett Court.

State Court in Gwinnett County

State Gwinnett County Court hears the cases that deal with personal injury or breach of contract, appeals made in Magistrate Court, misdemeanor cases, proof of insurance or DUI cases. Gwinnett County Probate Court

The Probate Court under Gwinnett County Court can practice its jurisdiction over matters like probation of wills, permanent or temporary guardians of minors, guardians and conservators of minors as well as adults, fireworks permits, birth certificates, marriage licenses, permits to keep firearms, certificates of residence, etc. The business hours of the court are on weekdays from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm. Gwinnett County Juvenile Court

Juvenile court takes care of all the cases dealing with juvenile delinquency, runaway or deprived children and other offenses made by young children under 18.
