Ohio Background Check Details

If you are in Ohio and want to perform a background check, you can contact the Civil Identification Department of the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.  The department can be contacted Monday to Friday at the toll free number 877-224-0043 during the working period of 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

There are few agencies that can scan the FBI and BCI fingerprint cards, and these can be submitted to the BCI electronically. To Obtain a Background Check Copy

You can get your copy of a background check record from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. The request form must contain your details like the name, address, date of birth and phone number, as well as the name, address and the code number of the agency through which the check is going to be conducted. The important part is the signature of the applicant who is requesting for the copy of background check.

The background check details, or the report, is valid for a maximum period of one year from the date when the fingerprint was taken. The original copy of the background check must be retained by the applicant and the employer is only eligible to recieve a photocopy.

There is a fee for obtaining a copy of background check, which is $8.00 as per the recent rules. However, obtaining a copy of the background check is absolutely free when the request form is accompanied with the fingerprint card.

There is another way of obtaining a free copy of a background check if the WEBCHECK request is received within a period of 30 days from the date of fingerprinting.

The processing fees for obtaining a copy of a background check can be made by money order or company check.
