The Administrative Office of the Courts in the state of Kentucky, United States of America gives criminal records reports to licensing agencies, government entities, businesses and the general public. The Administrative Office of the courts has a statewide database that accumulates data from the various local law enforcement agencies. The records that are collected from the 120 counties of the state of Kentucky are assimilated and maintained by CourtNet. The records contain reports of misdemeanor and traffic violation that took place in the state over the past five years. It also includes records of felony cases that date back to 1978.

Conducting a Kentucky Background Check

 

There are two methods in which you may forward your request of Kentucky background check. You may mail your request and pay the required fee by a money order or a check that is payable to the State Treasurer or you may put your request at the walk in window. In case you mail your request, it will be processed the same business day your mail reaches. There is a third way of procuring your Kentucky background report. This is the prepaid account service maintained by the Administrative Office of Courts. To access this service, you will have to create an account with the office and make the payments prior to sending your requests.

Background reports will be sent to you either by fax or ordinary mail or even through email. You will receive the reports in a day unless there is a reason for delay.

The walk in window is open on all business days from 7.3- a.m. to 5 p.m. It remains closed on all public holidays and on weekends.

The address of the Administrative Office of the Courts where you may mail your requests is Pretrial Services Records Division, Administrative Office of the Courts, 100 Millcreek Park, Frankfort, KY 40601. You can also send a fax request. The number to fax is 502 573 1669.

You will be charged a fee of $10 if you order for a background report. If you want to access the prepaid fax service, you will be charged a fee of $15.

Accessing your own Background Records

 

You may also contact the Kentucky State Police and perform a Kentucky background check on yourself. The records branch of the Kentucky State Police performs background checks for various purposes such as licensing and employment. For this, you have to collect the Background Check Release Authorization Form and contact the names search section of the State Police.

The number to call is 502 0227 8700. You must send your requests through mail or submit them in person. Faxes or emails are not acceptable in this case.  The fee for this background check is $20.
