Rules Followed by the Georgia Courts

The legal system of Georgia is unique in that the courts, at each level have separate sets of legal directives which they are supposed to follow. Of course they work within their jurisdiction as well. For example, there are the Rules for the Supreme Court, those for the Court of Appeals, and the Uniform Rules that apply to all the lower courts.

The Bar Admission Rules provide the main source for the legal directives that are prevalent in the state, together with the State Bar of Georgia Handbook. There are other rule-making bodies too, including the Uniform Transfer Rules, the Code of Judicial Conduct and the system of Unified Appeal.

In case you are looking to file a lawsuit in any of the courts of Georgia, you need to do so by using prescribed legal forms that you can obtain from the courthouse. The electronic versions of juvenile court forms, probate court forms, inmate forms as well as forms for protective orders – they are all available at the official website too.
