Brevard County Court Information

Brevard County Court is a limited jurisdiction court that handles civil and criminal cases filed in the county. There are a number of cases that are handled by the Brevard County Court of Florida; the details of these are as follows:

•    Civil cases where the amount of dispute is less than $15,000
•    Small claims cases where the amount of dispute is between $5,000 and $15,000
•    Landlord/tenant cases
•    Misdemeanor cases where the sentence may amount to a term in a correctional facility
•    Traffic violation cases

Circuit Courts in Brevard County

The Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Courts serve Brevard County as well as Seminole County. The Circuit Court is a general jurisdiction trial court and has the jurisdiction to try civil and criminal cases filed in Brevard County. The Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court has jurisdiction over civil cases where the amount of controversy is more than $15,000, felony cases, probate or estate related cases, juvenile cases, domestic relations cases, mental health cases, civil and criminal appeals cases.
